Metalbots were a species of forcefully created robotic soldiers, similar in action to a cyberman, that were created by High Lord Vamphra to be utilized as members of her Empire's military by using a Machine to transform Stickbots captured from The Grid into Metalbots by extracting their power nodes and reprograming their brains. Little is known about the actual events that take place during a Stickbot's transformation into a Metalbot, but it is speculated that once inside The Machine the Stickbot is brainwashed or reprogrammed into joining Vamprah's Empire and their body is covered in a metal exoskeleton.
